a. Take accurate measurements before cutting.
b. Plan your pattern layout to use the fabric efficiently.
c. Check the fabric width before calculating how much you need.
d. Pay attention to grain, prints, and patterns before placing your pattern pieces.
e. Double-check your measurements and pattern before cutting.
f.  Keep usable scraps for pockets, facings, waistbands, and other small pieces.
g. Practice complicated designs before cutting expensive fabric.

A good rule is: Measure → Plan → Check → Cut.
