My sewing machine keeps breaking the thread while sewing, and it’s becoming really frustrating. Sometimes it happens immediately after starting, while other times the thread breaks after sewing for a while.

I heard that incorrect threading, high thread tension, a damaged needle, poor quality thread, or even a rough spot somewhere on the machine could be responsible.

Tailors and sewing machine technicians, what has been the most common cause in your experience?

  1. Does changing the needle usually solve the problem?
  2. How do you know when the thread tension is too high?
  3. Can the wrong needle or thread cause frequent breakage?
  4. Can a rough or damaged machine part cause the thread to break?

What did you do to fix yours? Please share your experience.
